Laura is our Senior Stylist at Bamboo Hair and has been doing hairdressing for 10 years this year. She’s 25 years old and started her hairdressing journey straight from school by choosing an apprenticeship where you learn on the job and all training has been done at Bamboo. Laura is Qualified in Level 1/2 Hairdressing NVQ, Level 3 Hairdressing NVQ and Barbering.

What made you want to be a Hairdresser?
I enjoy making clients feel good about themselves. I also love the creativity that can be done in Hairdressing as every client is unique so services are never the same.
After years of experience and training what is your favourite part to Hairdressing?
I love all aspects of hairdressing but especially styling because after a colour or cut service you see the final result and the creation of your work.
Do you specialise in anything?
I specialise in Hair Extensions, LA-Weave, Micro Rings and Preboned which are all available to have done in the salon. I love doing Hair Extensions as you can play around with the length thickness and colour depending on the clients needs. You can create so many different looks with extensions which is great.

Laura what is your favourite Extension method?
My Current favourite extension method is the LA-Weave. It can be tailored to the client by choosing different lengths & Colours. But I enjoy doing this method as you don’t always want extensions for length but to add some natural looking thickness and this is perfect for that!
So what are the benefits of L.A. Weave?
- No glue! This means a quick and easy application, removal and reapplication.
- No heat is used during application.
- No braids or plaits, keeping the application time speedy so you can enjoy your new hair sooner.
- Lasts 8-10 weeks before reapplication is needed.
- The hair can be re-used on reapplication providing you have maintained the quality at home with the correct home care products meaning a set of L.A. weave hair can last 9+ months.

If you could turn back time and give advice to your apprentice self what would it be?
Don’t be afraid and throw yourself into your training!
What’s your favourite service?
I like everything in hairdressing so its really hard to decide but i love any Balayage work or copper colours.
What’s your favourite hair trend?
Grey Blending is a recent service that’s becoming very popular. This is when your natural grey/white hair is being used instead of covered to created a blended look. Leaving less maintenance for the client and embracing the natural hair growth throughout the look.
If you had to have one hair colour for the rest of your life what would it be?
Definitely Copper
Have you been on any recent hair training courses?
Yes. Recently I’ve been lucky to go to the Fusion Tour were Marlon j Hawkins showed some inspiring creativity and new techniques to use in colour work. I also went on a Bob Cutting course with Andrea Dorata were I learnt new skills and provision cutting Both held by Loreal professional.

If You wasn’t a Hairdresser what would you do?
I’m not really sure hairdressing has always been my dream. I think I would work in some type of front of house position.
